GEM regularly undertakes repeat business and referral projects throughout the North of England, particularly in and around North Yorkshire.
We have carried out projects in York, Ripon, Harrogate and the surrounding local area, working with local authorities and private clients on design-build and build-only contracts.

Scheme Completed – 2008
Description of Works
Conversion of Grade ll listed barns and outbuildings into 2 high end luxury barn conversions and 1 part conversion/part new build cottage.
Works included within the scheme
• Restoration and renovation works
• Ground works
• Landscape gardening
• Full refurbishment and fit out
• Conservation works which included full external repoint in specialist lime mortar
• Bat mitigation works
SCHEME - Blake Street, Blake Mews, York
Works Completed – 2006
Description of works:
Conversion and new build of Grade ll Listed property to form mixed use development comprising of two retail units, two bespoke apartments and two high end town houses within city centre location.
Works included within the scheme:
• Installation of Green Sedum roof
• Air source heat pumps to provide underfloor heating and cooling
• Full internal and external works and decorations
• Full refurbishment
• Hard landscaping
SCHEME – Ampleforth Abbey & College
Works Completed – 2010
Description of works:
Construction of new student accommodation block and House Master & Mistress accommodation.
Refurbishment of existing student kitchen facilities and assistant House Mistress accommodation.
Works included within the scheme:
· All ground works and drainage
· Superstructure construction, comprising of metal frame building clad with external masonry with metal stud and track internal walls
· All mechanical and electrical works to new build and adaption of existing system
· Full internal fit out, including decoration works and flooring
· External hard and soft landscaping
· Works carried out whilst existing accommodation block was occupied by students of Ampleforth College
SCHEME – York Railway Institute Sports club
Works Completed – 2009
Description of works:
Construction of new changing rooms, community centre and WC’s onto existing building.
Works included within the scheme:
· All ground works and drainage
· Superstructure construction, comprising of metal frame building clad with external masonry with internal block work walls
· All mechanical and electrical works to changing rooms including shower facilities to each changing room and adaption of existing system
· Full internal fit out, including decoration works and flooring
SCHEME – Cornmill Shopping Centre, Darlington
Works Completed – 2010
Description of works:
Removing of structural shear wall and installation of new structural steel frame onto new piled foundations and concrete ringbeam.
Works included within the scheme:
· Removing existing concrete foundations
· Installation of new piled foundations including reinforced concrete ringbeam
· Forming openings within structural wall by carrying out propping works
· Installation of structural steel to above openings including fire protection works
· All works carried out whilst the adjacent shopping centre remained open to the public
