First phase complete at Old Police Station, Harrogate - March 2016

Completion of the first phase of development at The Old Police Station, Harrogate

We have just completed the first phase of a £4.5 Million project to convert “The Old Police Station” in Harrogate into prestigious residential properties. The development of the designed houses and apartments is being carried out on behalf of our client, property developer Harrogate Restoration LLP and we are now working on the second part of the project. The properties have attracted huge amount of interest since their launch in 2015 and it is hardly surprising given their prestigious location.

The Grade II listed buildings, which were originally designed in 1927, used to be home to the Harrogate police until they moved headquarters in 2012. Harrogate Restoration LLP’s vision was to create a luxury living environment at one of the most prestigious addresses in the centre of Harrogate and we have worked closely with them to restore the historic buildings to their former glory.

We have made sure to retain the period features of the buildings and incorporate them into the modern 21st century design of the new homes. The iconic frontage of the building remains untouched, while the original stone has been repaired and enhanced by our specialist stonemasonry division; Lanston Conservation. The interiors include oak doors, handmade fitted kitchens and luxury bathrooms with ceramic tiled floors and underfloor heating. All of this sitting in a landscaped gated grounds with secure parking.

This is a really interesting project which has drawn upon our specialist skills in restoring historic buildings. Our team of roofers, joiners, builders and plasterers have been working hard to deliver a high quality finish all whilst respecting the original fabric of the building. Seeing our work taking shape and these iconic buildings being brought back to life makes us even more delighted to have made a start on phase two of the project.

Julian Rooney, Partner at Harrogate Restoration said:

“There has been a tremendous amount of effort and attention to detail over the last two years to convert this landmark building into high quality modern living accommodation. Our vision was to restore the building to its former glory and to do this we needed to work with its unique original features in a creative way to incorporating them into the design. The completion of the first twelve properties is a significant milestone in the development and we are now pushing ahead with the second phase which includes a further eleven properties.”
